House Narrowly Passes Unprecedented Bad Farm Bill

This legislation covers a wide range of farm policy, but also the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). We wrote a statement on April 26th 2018 outlining substantial concerns with this proposal. Faith leaders from around the country have spoken out against the bill.

Alexei Laushkin, Executive Director, Kingdom Mission Society, Herndon, VA:

“Speaker Ryan’s obsession with changing the nature of the social safety net continues to be on full display in the U.S. House. The Farm Bill contains radical new policies on SNAP based on a weak moral framework. This bill will hurt Americans during their time of need and should be rejected by the Senate. The process in the House was unnecessarily partisan and the close nature of the vote reflects that reality.
