We were there for a special mass to bless and commemorate markers that will be placed in all five Roman Catholic cemeteries within the Diocese of Washington commemorating the unmarked graves of slaves so buried within the District of Columbia.

Caridnal Wuerl led the service with choir from St. Augustine’s Catholic Church providing music for the liturgy. In all about 17 of us joined several hundred guests as part of this service.

MLK Bridges plans to do a video conversation with the organizers of this special mass and important moment in commemorating living church history.
